You'll want to start by using warm and inviting colors for your space - like earth and ivory tones, with muted chocolate and #mocha hues to create comfortable and relaxing environment (Read this blog post for my favorite mocha paint colors).

Upgrade to comfortable furniture & seating. Select plush chairs and soft cushions that will encourage you to settle in, enjoy the space and linger longer thus making your home a place of comfort and consolation which leads to connection.
Use ambient lighting like candles, to create an inviting space. I love layering candles to bring dimension and add a warm and inviting glow. Vertical elements draw the eye upward making the space feel more dynamic and intimate.
Refreshing your dining area for more intimate, memorable family meals and celebrations are always a priority. Why just eat when each meal can be a party? I remember when my Mr and I spent hours refreshing our dining space with paint and a good edit before adding dried flowers and thrifted china for a small group gathering. And at the end of our fellowship, our group leader stood up and declared that "God surely met us here tonight". My husband and I looked at each other and smiled and I heard a small voice in my head say, “by wisdom a house is built, through understanding it is established & through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures" and I thought; Interior Design is the same thing. Was our home filled with rare & beautiful treasures - absolutely not. What it was filled with was our heart’s desire to create a place where everyone felt comfortable, cared for and connected.
