Hello and welcome to Karen Savage Design located between Goshen and Middlebury Indiana--which is rural Elkhart County right in the middle of Amish Country. I'm so glad you stopped by!
Here's what I do with my life--I make the world more beautiful and this is how I do it -- I equip, teach and empower others with design tools or (hard earned) design knowledge so they can confidently make great design decisions better than they could on their own. I don't sell product. I sell my expertise, experience, education & mad design skills to help savvy DIY designers as and when they need me.
When I graduated at the top of my interior design class in 2002, I was told to move to a big city where there would be more opportunities to serve the luxury design market as well as contract and hospitality design. But here's the thing, when Jesus said he was going to prepare a place for us (John 14:1), I don't think he meant it to be an exclusive club for the rich and privileged. I believe as creatures created in His image that we all deserve the nurturing, safety, healing and rejuvenation that comes from living in a meaningful and beautiful environment. So I decided to make professional design services more affordable and accessible to more people by helping them plan & develop their own projects. I also learned new and modern technology to reduce the the number of hours needed to create a professionally designed space. I've discovered this unique, organized approach to design is not only efficient but also convenient for the busy, creative individual who doesn't have time for numerous meetings, wants to be a good steward of their resources and reduce overwhelm and expensive design mistakes.
So here's the bottom line: I provide the busy, creative DIY designer a unique, organized and highly personalized process that is not found anywhere else and is tailored to fit your taste, vision, style, wants, needs, lifestyle, space and goals.
Everything can be done completely online or in person - you decide - because it's your project! I also do this by planting gorgeous gardens and by loving my husband, our children and our home. Beauty is important because it changes us and then we change the world.
I believe collaboration is key to any successful design project and helping you discover, organize and turn your ideas into reality is energizing and rewarding. I love what I do - but more importantly, I love hearing the stories about how God shows up and restores, heals and nurtures you and your lovelies in these special places.
My clients are highly creative and detailed design enthusiasts with excellent taste who value good design, their time, their money and the benefits of good planning in order to avoid costly design mistakes. They either have no idea where to start, think they aren't good at design or simply don't know how or have the time to make sense of or create a professional, cohesive design. I've been there! You can read my story and calling here. They also choose to be involved in the design process so they can control their projects, save money and claim bragging rights (because team work makes the dream work)! So, I help as much or as little as needed.
If you've done design before, you already know that creating a beautiful, meaningful & functional space is not as easy as it looks. It takes time, energy, focus, skill and money. If you are lacking in any of those areas, your project could be compromised. Interior Design is NOT shopping - Don't be sold ugly. If you'd rather control your project so you'll love to come home, you're in the right place and I'm here to help, not to sell. Let's collaborate and work together to create your vision so you can live it.
I graduated top of my interior design class in 2002. My interior design concepts have won numerous design awards and I provide years of practical design experience to my clients. So no matter where you live or what type of interior design project you have, whether a home or place of business, from refreshing a tired space to creating a unique lifestyle, I work with my clients personally to help them create beautiful and meaningful homes better than the could on their own.
