Interior Designer Elkhart Goshen Indiana
I met my Handsome Honey in a nightclub (okay a bar) in downtown Elkhart one evening at the end of a record cold winter. I was with a group of fellow workers celebrating the end of a long mind numbing payroll conversion project. He was alone, and tall and dark and handsome....
Me and my fellow cohorts in crime were seated around a large table eating popcorn, being loud, and enjoying the relief from finally being out of the pressure cooker and completing our goal. In short, we were celebrating by throwing a few down. But the good times were in jeopardy of quickly going south as this lone stranger behind me kept reaching over my shoulder to eat popcorn out of my bowl.
Can you imagine the nerve of some people? I mean, has anything strange like that ever happened to you in a "night club" before? I remember thinking nothing was going to spoil my hard earned fun that evening so I turned around to give this guy a piece of my mind and there standing behind me was the most handsome hunk of a man that I've ever seen. So after catching my breath I decided that instead of giving him a piece of my mind I'd change it instead so the next time he reached for the popcorn, I pulled the bowl right next to me.
He smiled. I smiled...and the rest is history.
This story probably sounds scandalous, especially in small town Indiana, but our meeting that night was destiny and just goes to prove that God's will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven regardless if we're in church or in a 'Night Club'.
You see, I had been a single mother for eight years and our meeting that evening was an answer to prayer.
Three years later we were married in the old orchard of the small farm where we would live, love, learn and raise our family together.
It was July and we were surrounded by our two precious, beautiful daughters...
And family and friends....
Some of which were furry and had more than 2 legs....
And oh the party we had on that hot July night!
That's how we started our life together and as they say.... "the two of us became one" or four--literally!
And then we decided to share the love and have another precious child...
Welcome Baby Joe....
But surrounded by all us girls, we decided he needed a little brother to play with....
... and so 17 months later, there were six of us!! (I think we know how this happens now-lol)
And everybody and everything grew like weeds!
We were having so much fun raising our family, that we didn't notice the years passing....
Until the kids started leaving for college---one at a time.
Yes, even the youngest! (the nerve-LOL)
Can you believe that was all over 20 years ago? But you know what?
I wouldn't change a thing!
Even though our family is raised we are still learning, loving and living in our home-- our little slice of heaven. A place where we all still love to come home to.
How did you meet your special someone or begin your home?
I'd love to hear your story!

About this blog...
I began writing this blog in May 2016 after discovering that my mother always wanted to be a writer. She had Alzheimer's disease and never realized her dream. Sometimes in our deepest grief we are motivated to encourage others to fearlessly be themselves so that their gifts and stories are shared. I mean, how else can we change the world? So I began to record the things that reflect who I am and what is important to me, because one day my memories too, may be gone and what would that mean to the people God gave me to care for and the good works He gave me to do? So, here is where I share the important stuff so that you can learn real design, not decorator tricks, but fundamental and salient concepts to apply so that you can create your own legacy home and so that my family and I can remember the life we lived and created here in our home, our sacred place. I hope you're inspired and encouraged as I share my memories, my work, my mission & my life. Hugs & blessings, (Numbers 6: 24-26)
