Interior Designer Elkhart Goshen Indiana
How is the creative part of interior design going for you? I believe we are all created in God's image (Genesis 3) and therefore we are all creative. But creating a successful interior design plan and making smart design choices is like any skill or talent - first you got to know what to do before you can do it. There are a lot of 'moving parts' that have nothing to do with 'style assumptions' and yet depend on each other to function well and look cohesive. So without professional interior design knowledge & experience or a professional interior design coach to equip you, your own attempts at creating beautiful spaces might lead to frustrating results, mistakes, miscommunications, unmet expectations, disappointment, wasted money, time and stress and keep you stuck!
So.....If you would like to avoid typical DIY design mistakes - read on!
Another reason you might have difficulty designing is because it takes more than watching HGTV to master interior design skills. Let me ask you, what are you proficient at? Piano, Teaching, Basketball, Construction? Think about where you started 20 years ago and where you are today. The DIY design machine makes interior design look fast & easy and the friendly sales person with product to sell will tell you the same but in reality, creating successful interior design is a learned skill that takes years of practice. And from all the pictures I am seeing on the internet it looks like many folks could use a little help avoiding typical, costly design mistakes.
To make my point, I've collected a few google images - not to shame your game - but to educate and dispel common design myths (because there are a lot of dirty little secrets in the business that need to be told). Hopefully this information will motivate you to do your research and homework before you lay out your hard earned cash whether your project is a simple room refresh or a new build.
I've tried to note the designer or photographer when it was available but if you recognize someone's work and I haven't given them credit, just let me know and we'll change that!
Helping others design with intent is the reason I started this business because a trustworthy, professional interior design advocate was not available to shepherd me through the process when I needed it. Now, I'm a pirate boat among the yachts and I help everyone, whether you live across the street or across the nation, with their design projects as much or as little as they need me.
Hiring a qualified, professional designer is a great value if you want to get it right the first time and avoid costly mistakes. And it may make even more sense if you want a pulled together look that creates peace and calm at home and don't have the time to figure it out and practice until it looks good. I mean.....design is math, science, art and composition - no wonder you are having difficulty creating a place that feels like home to you - it's heady information that takes trial and error to master.
Do you have time to practice 40 hours a week to achieve mastery?
Now you know the truth about Interior Design!
If you think you might need a little interior design help, you're right! 50-80% of a successful design is spent in the set up to avoid misunderstandings and meet measurable goals. Let me help you be proactive and get it right so you'll love coming home as much as I do!

About this blog...
I began writing this blog in May 2016 after discovering that my mother always wanted to be a writer. She had Alzheimer's disease and never realized her dream. Sometimes in our deepest grief we are motivated to encourage others to fearlessly be themselves so that their gifts and stories are shared. I mean, how else can we change the world? So I began to record the things that reflect who I am and what is important to me, because one day my memories too, may be gone and what would that mean to the people God gave me to care for and the good works He gave me to do? So, here is where I share the important stuff so that you can learn real design, not decorator tricks, but fundamental and salient concepts to apply so that you can create your own legacy home and so that my family and I can remember the life we lived and created here in our home, our sacred place. I hope you're inspired and encouraged as I share my memories, my work, my mission & my life. Hugs & blessings, (Numbers 6: 24-26)
