Hello and welcome to Karen Savage Interior Design located between Goshen and Middlebury Indiana--which is rural Elkhart County. I'm so glad you stopped by! Do you love coming home? If not, what's holding you back? We raised four children and live in a 100 year old, tiny farmhouse in the middle of Amish Country. And yes after 30 years, we still love coming home because we got it right! And while our goal seemed simple - be good stewards of our family & resources and make intentional design decisions based on what God laid on our hearts and in our hands - figuring it all out was not! I could not find a reliable, qualified interior designer to shepherd me through the process and help me make good design decisions. So I returned to college to learn and earn that interior design degree. It worked! Come take a look around our bucolic, old farmstead. Or enjoy our farmhouse fixer upper story or a simple home refresh.
How about you? Does your space meet your wants, needs and supports your family? Is it representative of the real you? If not, what's keeping you from making it so? Industry professionals with product to sell will tell you that interior design is as easy as buying whatever product they're selling - but the reality is creating a home or space that supports your dreams and goals while celebrating your brand of beauty is much more than taking a style quiz and buying pretty details one design decision at a time. Pretty design elements look great merchandised in the store or showroom but not so much in your space. Can you relate? And because all design details affect the big picture, one mistake could be costly to your project. Do you want to settle on good enough or are you passionate about your family & your space? Do you have the extra money and time to fix expensive design mistakes? If your gut is telling you something is wrong while someone is trying to convince you - then chances are you are right.
I know all about design mistakes first hand. You see, I've failed a lot! Including my first semester of design classes as a freshman in college and I believed the Professor when he told me I didn't have what it takes to become a successful designer - you can read that epic failure here. But years later after learning & honing the skills required, I graduated top of my interior design class. That was in 2002 and ever since I've been helping others become the design genius behind their own projects by empowering them with a professional and affordable interior design service that wasn't available to me when I needed it.
You see here's the truth about great interior design - it takes experience, planning and skill to pull it all together - which means winging it and too much creativity can kill a design! How do you feel about that?
My clients have been involved in or have done their own projects before and are disappointed with the results yet they are creative geniuses who value good design, their time, their money and the benefits of making inspired, intentional big picture decisions. They either have no idea where to start, get stuck in the process, don't have time to figure it out or the focus needed to create a professional, cohesive, beautiful composition that delivers their lifestyle needs and communicates their vision. I've been there! You can read my story and calling here. They also choose to be involved in their design project so they can get what they want, save money, control the outcome, and claim bragging rights (because team work truly does make the dream work)! So, I come along beside them and listen to what they want, analyze what's not working and then help them connect the dots between ideas and action or I help them bring their ideas to life through design mapping room renders and drawings. I facilitate their design projects by providing knowledge and frame work for their success, or by providing the design skills needed to help them visualize and communicate their ideas.
To my knowledge, I am the only award winning, educated, experienced professional interior designer doing this without the complications of traditional, long term interior design. Maybe that is why I am also the highest rated.
I LOVE DOING DESIGN DIFFERENTLY!
I graduated top of my interior design class in 2002. My interior design concepts have won numerous design awards and I provide years of practical design experience to clients that live down the road or across the nation on projects both large and small.
