Interior Designer Elkhart Goshen Indiana
I'd like to dedicate this post to everyone who has ever felt glassy eyed while standing in front of thousands of paint chips in the store!
I want you to avoid the # 1 Mistake everyone is making when choosing paint color!
My client's objective was simple, "Give us a new room with new color! We want a fresh look and feel".
Sounds easy enough doesn't it? I mean, selecting pain colors is easy right? So, what's the problem? Just ask everyone you know what color they've had success with and buy a couple gallons.
That's why this project is still one of my favorites because my client's husband was a trade professional in the paint industry with over 40 years experience and was considered an expert in his field and yet couldn't get the color right!
The reason he couldn't get it right was because he wasn't trained as an interior designer. His specialty & skill was painting! Choosing colors correctly is it's own specialty and skill - so don't feel bad if you get glassy eyed staring at all those color chips--you are not alone!
And I understand why....because paint is either the least expensive or most expensive design decision you'll make.
Because it affects everything!
The color in your home affects your mood, productivity, and sense of well-being. And your well being affects......just about everything!
So please don't beat yourself up! It's not easy when you don't know how or have years of trial and error experience. You have different super powers and are busy serving others.
And because of misinformation, misunderstandings, lack of experience and so many choices, there is a lot more to just selecting paint than picking your favorite color.
And here's the note from the client about how she approached the design I created for her using her own special touches:
There are several reasons why this has been my favorite color consultation and it wasn't just because of the dramatic difference color made in the room. It was also because my client was very appreciative of the result.
She was constantly encouraging me and so supportive. She sent me notes and told me each time we met how the new room was blessing her.
And isn't that the measure of a successful interior design project? We all need a safe place to be ourselves and get away from things that are stealing our peace.
Thanks for all the encouragement Charlene! You are the one that blessed me!
How do you feel about selecting paint colors? Color consultations are one of my favorite design services because I love color and I love makeover stories - especially ones like Charlene's that point us to the Master Designer!

About this blog...
I began writing this blog in May 2016 after discovering that my mother always wanted to be a writer. She had Alzheimer's disease and never realized her dream. Sometimes in our deepest grief we are motivated to encourage others to fearlessly be themselves so that their gifts and stories are shared. I mean, how else can we change the world?. So I began to record the things that reflect who I am and what is important to me, because one day my memories too, may be gone and what would that mean to the people God gave me to care for and the good works He gave me to do? So, here is where I share the important stuff so that you can learn real design, not decorator tricks, but fundamental and salient concepts to apply so that you can create your own exemplary home and so that my family and I can remember the life we lived and created here in our home, our sacred place. Because my work is important, this is also where I share my favorite design projects and how good design enhanced their lives as well. I hope you're inspired and encouraged as I share my memories, my work, my mission & my life. Hugs & blessings, (Numbers 6: 24-26)
