Interior Designer Elkhart Goshen Indiana
Color is the most emotional and most personal of all the design elements--and there are thousands of them (maybe even more)! And because all decorating decisions begin with color, it can sometimes be difficult knowing where to start. Why? Because color affects everything - and if you get it wrong, you'll know it every time you walk into the room.
Developing a color palette for your design is always done early in a project because it sets boundaries and directs color, shade and tone choices for all remaining selections.
However, deciding on the specific paint color is one of the last design decisions that you'll make.
If you're like me and love every color on the color wheel then deciding on a color story might seem limiting, but it helps set boundaries for your project. The two color palettes or color stories below (the top photo was taken by my beautiful daughter, Julie), are part of my own curated collection that I share with clients. If you don't have time to create or research your own color story, you can choose from one of mine to help narrow your focus or you can do your own research.
I often look to nature for pleasing color palettes that create a certain atmosphere.
Being an artist, I'm passionate about color and can talk hues, shades and tones for hours! There's so much to know and understand about color so I hope this information is enough to move you forward with more confidence on your project. You may also enjoy this blog post to help avoid making the #1 color mistake that everyone else is making.
If you need additional help figuring out color for your space, I highly recommend investing in your home and yourself with a color consultation. It is one of my most popular products because it reduces overwhelm and helps you begin to establish boundaries for your space. Boundaries are important so that you design decisions look cohesive.

So, if you were using just color....what story would your room tell?
I hope you've found this information incredibly helpful in understanding the interior design element of color and how it affects your space - maybe even a light bulb turned on and you're beginning to change how you think about interior design! I'm all about light bulb experiences - that's why I do design differently! Everyone deserves the benefit of coming home to a place where they belong - a place where they can be renewed and recharged and reminded of God's faithfulness! Can you see your space planned differently?

About this blog...
I began writing this blog in May 2016 after discovering that my mother always wanted to be a writer. She had Alzheimer's disease and never realized her dream. Sometimes in our deepest grief we are motivated to encourage others to fearlessly be themselves so that their gifts and stories are shared. I mean, how else can we change the world?. So I began to record the things that reflect who I am and what is important to me, because one day my memories too, may be gone and what would that mean to the people God gave me to care for and the good works He gave me to do? So, here is where I share the important stuff so that you can learn real design, not decorator tricks, but fundamental and salient concepts to apply so that you can create your own exemplary home and so that my family and I can remember the life we lived and created here in our home, our sacred place. Because my work is important, this is also where I share my favorite design projects and how good design enhanced their lives as well. I hope you're inspired and encouraged as I share my memories, my work, my mission & my life. Hugs & blessings, (Numbers 6: 24-26)
