Proverbs 31: 13-21
Interior Design is a mix of art, space, science and psychology. And space is an important design element that should be the starting point for creating and defining beautiful, functional environments for both home and business.
Because space affects our behavior and our behavior affects our space, the divisions and restrictions of space should form the foundation of architectural planning, This plan leads the decorating decisions which affect how you work, feel and socialize. So take the time to create a master design plan before you call the contractor or start making purchases, it will save you time, money and stress.
When analyzing and considering how to best use space, I begin with creating functional zones within the space (sometimes using a bubble diagram) before creating the floor plan. After I have a floor plan that works, then I define the 'star' of the show (aka: focal point) and add supporting characters. A well thought out floor plan and elevation will be your road map to design success.
After you've created the master plan--be patient and follow it! The design process takes time and discipline. but you'll end up finishing faster, saving money and be happier with the result.
You don't necessarily have to call in an architect to create scaled drawings of your space. A floor plan is simply a measured outline of your floor and furniture and will allow you to play with furniture placement and traffic patterns before making purchases.
Of course, if you need more help thinking through the efficient use of your space, creating those drawings, or just coming up with a basic decor plan, just contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Space planning is one of my specialties.

Welcome to my personal design notebook. If you already know me, then you know my mother suffers from Alzheimer's disease. During this journey with her, I realized how important it was to keep a record of the things that reflect who I am and what is important to me, because one day my memories too, may be gone and what would that mean to the people God gave me to care for and the good works He gave me to do? So here is where I share the important stuff so that you can learn real design, not decorator tricks, but fundamental and salient concepts to apply so that you can create your own exemplary home and so that my family and I can remember the life we lived and created here in our home, our sacred place. Because my work is important, this is also where I share my favorite design projects and how good design enhanced their lives as well. I hope you're inspired and encouraged as I share my memories, my work, my mission & my life. Many blessings, (Numbers 6: 24-26)
